Nell Rose Mayfield Helmick peacefully passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Herman Lee and Nellie Delilah Mayfield. She was born in Bruceville Eddy, Texas on November 17, 1930. A graveside service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Lorena Cemetery.
The family moved to Lorena, Texas when Nell Rose was young. She was blessed to be raised with her mother's parents, uncles, aunts and many cousins. Nell Rose attended Lorena Schools playing sports and as a Cheerleader. Nell went to work for Texas Farm Bureau where she met Bill Helmick. Together they worked at their careers, designed and built houses, moved to many areas of Texas, opened a Pizza Restaurant, traveled extensively both state side and abroad, while enjoying the company of many, many friends. They returned to Lorena, Texas to prepare for retirement where Nell was involved in many Social Clubs.
Nell Rose was proceeded in death by her husband, Billy Roger Helmick and her daughter, Donna Lynn Atkinson. She is survived by her life long cousins, Donald Earl Hurst and James Earl (Pete) Hurst of Richardson, Texas; her son, Thomas Craig Helmick, his wife Jill Elaine Helmick and their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Helmick; her daughter, Elizabeth Diane Helmick Heppel and her daughter Andrea Elizabeth Heppel Christian, Andrea's husband Andrew Christian, son Noah Mathew Christion and daughter - Kylie Brielle Christian, her son James Evan Heppel, his wife Heather KeRaye Hudson Heppel and their daughter Koger Elizabeth Heppel; her daughter - Donna Lynn Atkinson's children - her grandchildren - Misty Delilah Anderson Gregory and Christopher Paul Atkinson.
