Nelda Sawyers, of Waco, passed away Wednesday November 10, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Reynolds officiating . Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm, Friday November 12, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
Nelda was born November 13, 1921 in Abbott, Texas to Jud and Katie Beavers. Nelda grew up in Hillsboro, Texas, later moving to Waco where she was a loving wife and mother, a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church and a buyer and department manager at Cox’s Department Store for over 40 years.
Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman (Buz) Sawyers, five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son Larry R. Sawyers and his wife Susie; a daughter Debbie Jessup and her husband Mark; Five grandchildren Dan, Michael, Casey, Zachary and Libby and three great grandchildren Cassady, Tori and Coleman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eddie Dark, Bluebonnet Hospice nurses Mollie and Jennifer, and Martha Portillo and Esther Nunez for their assistance and dedicated, loving care during our mother's illness.
Memorials may be made to the Harris Creek Baptist Church.
