Nancy (Meece) Long

December 3, 1948 — September 13, 2021

Nancy was born on December 3, 1948, to Clarence E. and Juanita Meece. She graduated from University High and attended MCC.

Nancy met Jack Long when he was stationed in Fort Hood. They married after his discharge and moved to his hometown in Dalton, GA. Jack lost his life in an automobile accident and a short time later, Nancy moved back to Texas.

She worked in the corporate world in Dallas for many years. She loved to travel, she went to Europe and saw “Hair” in London, Elvis in Las Vegas, and Willie at one of his picnics. She loved music and had many musician friends.

Nancy had many friends and kept in touch with them all for years as well as her extended family in Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Barbara Meece Sykora and brother-in-law, Robert, as well as brother-in-law Eddie Long and wife Carol, and Larry Parks and wife, Peggy. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that she absolutely adored.

At Nancy’s explicit instructions, she is to be cremated and her cremains to be buried next to her husband, Jack. The family plans to have a memorial service at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Donna Porter, Nancy’s friend since first grade, and to Cousin Sherri Cobb, who helped in so many ways during her illness, especially in taking care of her beloved cat, Bebe.
