Nancy Ann Blackwell, age 75, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Young. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Nancy was born on July 23, 1937 in Hornell, New York to Robert and Florrie Bossard. After graduation from High School, in Canisteo, New York, in 1956, Nancy volunteered and joined the United States Air Force. She attended her basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio Texas, then was assigned to duty in the 805th Air Police Squadron, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport Louisiana. At Barksdale AFB, Nancy met and later married her husband, who was also assigned to the 805th Air Police Squadron. After her honorable separation from the Air Force, Nancy concentrated on being a housewife and a mother. Later she worked for many years in the public food industry.
As a mother and a housewife, Nancy was a leader and active in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed watching her children playing sports as they grew up.
She loved to bowl and her skills in this endeavor led to her winning several trophies in this sport.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and especially cruise ship journeys. An avid reader, Nancy always had several books with her on any and all trips. She amazed her relatives and others with her ability to sit and read from two or three books at the same time and keep the stories of each in order. Nancy was an avid collector of Owl Figurines.
Nancy was a caring, devoted and loving wife and mother. family, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild were her pride and Joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two older brothers, Richard and Jack Bossard; and sister, Jean Kenyon.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Floyd of 55 years; daughter, Karen Addison and husband, Ed; sons, Randy Blackwell and his wife, Tracie and Kevin Blackwell and his wife, Jill; Brother, Harold Bossard; Sisters Diane Shaffer and Peg Bossard; 5 grandchildren, Steven, Katherine, Kayla Addison, Alanna and Logan Blackwell; great grandson, Carter Blackwell as well as many other relatives and friends.
