Kathryn was born to Frank and Myrtis Mallory on January 21, 1926. She was one of seven children. Her two brothers served in the military during WWII with her brother Cecil passing away in the Pacific during the war which allowed her other brother, Brownie, to come home per the military’s regulations. Her sisters were Lucille, Hellen, and Jessie. Her younger sister Baby Louise died in infancy. Kathryn retired from Owens Illinois Glass Plant. For many years she raised her three older children with the help of her mother and sister Hellen. She enjoyed more years of retirement than she worked. She liked to travel. While younger she got to touch the Atlantic and in the last few years, she got to dip her feet in the Pacific (as well as her whole body when a tiny wave landed her on her backside); camp and fish in the Gulf of Mexico; she got to see the “faces in the mountain”; travel down the coast of California; see the Grand Canyon; and see some of the multi-colored leaves on a trip to West Virginia to visit her sister Jessie; she has been to Mexico as well as to Canada to see Niagara Falls. Kathryn was an avid bowler; bowling on both O&I and city organized leagues. She enjoyed going on bowling tournaments in different states and cities. She also liked her family days when most if not all her family showed up to eat and visit. She hosted both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day family gatherings. She enjoyed painting during her midyears and coloring in her later years. Kathryn was married to John Holder for 62 years and from that union they had one son.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, her siblings, her son-in-law Brett, and her granddaughter, René Weir.
She is survived by her four children Donna Benton and grandchildren Brett, Deanne and Brad; Ronald Herbelin and wife Jan and grandchildren Ronnie, Ricky, Sherri, Diana and Jeff; Sue Clark and husband Edd and grandchildren Derek, Erik and Amy; Kevin and wife Andy and granddaughter Mallory. She also had multiple great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Though Kathryn was baptized as an Episcopalian, she spent many years attending Lorena United Methodist church, buying hearing aids just so she could hear the preacher on Sunday mornings.
Kathryn was much loved and will be greatly missed.
