Milton "Mickey" Mounce

March 27, 1938 — July 14, 2013

Milton "Mickey" Mounce, 75, of Waco, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Larry Holden officiating.

Mickey's father, Bill, was a well known musician and being raised around this lifestyle Mickey was destined to play drums also. He began playing at age 15 for several bands. He moved to Hobbs, NM and played for Jerry Dykes and The Western Ramblers. There is where he met John Eubanks and they formed the band The Top Four and performed at the Alico in Waco for over a year. Mickey played for Paul Wayne, Lefty Frizell, Eddie Spradley, Lou Rochelle, Bob Wills and other various stars that came through the area. His first job was with Radio City and several years later began employment at Gulf State Paper Corp where he retired. Relaxing after retirement was not at all Mickey's plan, so he started his own cleaning business. He then began working for Tasco Auto Color as a delivery driver. He was employed there for the last 12 years of his life.

He was a huge Washington Redskins fan, enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse items and sports memorabilia, loved to bake and taking trips to Shreveport and Win Star Casinos. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren, Logan and Kelsey, participate in their many sporting activities. Mostly Mickey loved to spend his spare time playing cards at Redman's Club where he also worked and made many dear friends.

Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, William Ira Mounce Jr. and Willie Oliver Mounce; and step mother, Anetha Mounce

Mickey is survived by his children, Darla Hickey of Hewitt, Lisa Mounce of Austin, Jason Sanders of Austin; grandchildren, Logan, Kelsey, Justin, Richard, and Kacy; great-grandson; Kaden; and step sister, Wanda Priest of Crawford.

The family would like to thank The Brazos Kidney Center, Texas Oncology, Providence Hospital, Hillcrest Hospital and Hillcrest Hospice Care, all of the Nephrologists that visited and cared for him, as well as all of his friends.
