Mike Turner

James Michael Turner, 69, of Waco, passed away on May 26, 2022,  in his home with his devoted son and loving wife at his side.

Mike was most grateful for and proud of his son, Jason, who cared for him during his illness with remarkable devotion, patience, and dignity, rarely leaving his side.

Mike was born April 10, 1953, but the day dearest to him was March 17, their anniversary. They would have celebrated 50 years in the upcoming year.

Mike attended St Mary’s, St. Louis and Reicher Catholic High School graduating in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Jason; mother, Shirley Turner; brother, Dale Turner of Danbury, TX., his beloved grand dogs, EV and Chewy; golfing buddy, Ken Watkins and many relatives and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Fred Turner Jr.

Mike met the love of his life at the early age of 14. He set out right away convincing her he was going to marry her.  Five years later he did just that and 11 years later they celebrated the birth of their son, Jason.

Mike started his career as a pipefitter with Walter R.  Stewart and Sons where he became a licensed sprinkler fitter. After spending many years on the road as a sprinkler fitter, he then went to work at General Tire.  He later became  a licensed master plumber and worked at Lochridge Priest before retiring at Trane after 25 years, where he was simply known as “plumber”.

MIKE LOVED PLUMBING!  He often lended a helping hand to those in need using his skills and abilities.

What’s not to love about a man who loved his family, pets and friends —almost as much as he loved Mexican food, Texas A&M,  golf, Blue Moon, a good cigar and Port A.

A heartfelt thanks to Hospice care workers; Tammy, Jenny, Catherine and Glenn.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Scottish Rite for Children or to the fund for a Park Bench at Roberts Point in Port Aransas where many memories were made.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
