Mickey Smith, of Moody, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Mickey was born October 4, 1944, in Blanket, TX to Clyde I. and Beulah Mae Thompson. Mickey lived a full life, investing herself in home and family as well as the workforce. After completing her education, Mickey wed Earl Smith, to whom she was married for 19 years. Together, they made a home and raised three children. Further, Mickey worked twenty years for Texas Instruments. Following that she began a second career as a prison guard for the Texas Department of Corrections, from which she retired.
Mickey lived a balanced life, finding time for relaxing hobbies and leisure activities as well as her professions. In her spare time, she enjoyed antiquing. Also, she found satisfaction in being an avid gardener; in general, she liked being outside. Maybe most importantly, Mickey treasured spending time with family. Her loved ones meant the world to her.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde I. and Beulah Mae Thompson, as well as her brother Clyde E. Thompson. Mickey is survived by her three children, Julie Humphries; Keith Smith (Elisha); and Tamra Rothermel (John). Plus, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive visitors at 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 15th, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at the Naler Cemetery in Moody.
