Michael Adrian Williams, 77, was welcomed into Heaven on March 2, 2023. After living with Alzheimer’s for 5+ years, he passed peacefully while surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday April 1, 2023 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Mike was born on May 24, 1945 to Melvin & Doris Williams. Though born in Dallas, Mike grew up in San Antonio with his older sister Lynda and younger brother Kris. Mike graduated from McCollum High School in 1964 and in 1972, he discovered his love for helping and serving customers through selling insurance.
In the early ‘80s, he met the love of his life, Karen Bergeron. They married in 1984 and became a family of five with Michael Jr, Chris and Julie. In 1992, they moved to Del Rio where they bought Val Verde Insurance Agency. Together, Mike & Karen spent over 37 years doing all the things they loved to do...selling insurance together, traveling, playing golf, hosting parties in their home, spending weekends on Lake Amistad, eating dinners in Ciudad Acuna with friends, serving the community through Rotary, The Chamber of Commerce and Laughlin Air Force Base. Mike was a dedicated member of the Methodist Church in Del Rio where he served in various capacities. Mike & Karen returned to San Antonio in 2004 to continue selling insurance. Together they remained dedicated to the church and their bible study group. Above all else, Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
For as long as he was physically and mentally able, Mike took incredible care of Karen after her strokes in 2013. He spent his last few years being extremely well-cared for by the amazing people at Wesley Woods Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Doris, and his sister Lynda Hoyack, his wife Karen, and brother-in-law James (Jim) Bergeron. Survivors include his brother Kris, sons Michael Jr. and Chris Williams, daughter Julie & son-in-law Brett Spivey, brother and sister-in-law Jack and Leslie Bergeron, sister-in-law Rebecca Bergeron, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for all of the love and support over the past 10 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Hospice organization or Wesley Woods Rehabilitation & Care Center in Waco.
The guest book is offered at www.gracegardensfuneralhome.com where you may leave your condolences or share a fond memory about Mike. If you attend the service on April 1st, there will also be an opportunity to write a note including any fond memories or stories you would like to share with the family about Mike.
