Michael Teer

Biography

After a courageous battle with cancer for four years, Michael Stephen Teer, 61, went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2012. A memorial service will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, in Waco, on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Albert Fuentes and Mike’s friend, Jim Spears, officiating. Also, his friends from Sigma Chi will be performing an honorary pinning ceremony. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, June 22, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Bean’s Parlor, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Mike attended schools in Waco, including MCC and Baylor before graduating from Sam Houston State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. Mike worked for various oil corporations before establishing his own oil and gas drilling company and working as a contract landman. The oil business was his passion and gifting. Mike was instrumental in the lives of a number of individuals who he mentored in a life-changing manner in their careers.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother Eva Teer.

Surviving him are his wife Paula; father Clifford Teer and wife, Mildred; son Evan; daughter Ryan Garza and husband Gilbert; son Benjamin Teer and fiancée Misti McDougal; son Samuel Teer and wife Courtney; step-son Elijah Mendoza; sisters Barbara Teer and Rosemary Stovall and husband David; and grandchildren Matthew, Carson and Sydney Garza and Riley Teer.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospital, Providence Hospice, and Dr. Okani, Dr. Smith and Dr. Schwedock for their care and concern for Mike and his family during his long journey. We would also like to remember Dr. Michael Long, who preceded Mike in death, for all that he did to encourage and support him.
