Biography

Merlita Austria Smith, 57, of Hewitt, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat. Dec. 3, 2016 at Waco Memorial Park with Deacon Greg George officiating.

Merlita was born to Ireno and Felicidad Austria Mamaraldo on Jan. 7, 1959 in the Philippines. In 1980 She met the love of her life, Edwin Smith. They were married in May of 1982. They moved to the States in 1984 where they settled in Warner Robbins, Georgia. Soon they moved to Hewitt, Texas and made it their home. Merlita was a loving woman who cared deeply for her husband and family, even though most of her family lived in the Philippines she made sure she talked to them every day. She loved her husband and their two dogs, "Betty" and "Baby". She will be loved and missed every day.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ireneo Mamaraldo.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years; Edwin Smith, her mother; Felicidad Austria Mamaraldo, three brothers, and two sisters.
