Matthew Dustin Mattlage of Dallas, formerly of Crawford, died Tuesday July 12, 2016, at the age of 40. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Rowlett, TX at Dustin's Mother's house with his brother , Mike Mattlage, officiating. There will also be a service at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor, Tom Beers and Erica Abel officiating. The inurnment will follow at a later date at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in the Coryell City.
Dustin was born May 22, 1976, in Clifton, Texas, the son of Larry Henry and Phoebe (Phythian) Mattlage. In May of 1994, he graduated Salutatorian from Crawford High School where he was a member of the band. During his junior year, he studied as an exchange student in Germany. Dustin continued his education for a few years at the University of Texas where he studied International Finance/Business. Currently, he was enrolled in El Centro College in Dallas where he was studying to help students with Special Needs.
Upon his Crawford High School graduation, he moved to Waco for a few years and later to the Dallas area in 2006. While in Dallas, he was one of Dallas’s most sought after bartenders in both the private and public sector. To name a few, he was employed by Café Madrid and Hard Rock Café.
Dustin was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford. He had a big heart for people and animals and enjoyed helping where he could. He also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Larry and Jerry Mattlage of Crawford; his mother and step-father Phoebe and Jackson Bridges of Rowlett; his step-mother, Donna Williams of Osage; a brother, Michael Mattlage and his wife Staci and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
For those desiring, the family has suggested your favorite animal rescue or animal shelter, Crawford High School Scholarship Fund or the charity of the donor’s own choosing, for memorial contributions.
