Mary Ann Knippa age 81, of Smithville, Texas passed away Friday April 6, 2012 at a local nursing home. Memorial Services will be 2PM Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas with Rev. John Davenport officiating. Interment will be 10AM Thursday April 12, 2012 at Giddings Cemetery in Giddings, Texas with Rev. James Richardson officiating.
Mary was born on February 19, 1931 in Giddings, Texas to Frank and Esther Kilian. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved to cook and bake, served as a band mom for her two sons during their high school years, and participated with her sons in just about everything. Her favorite color is purple and she loved to play “42.” Mary had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, a lifelong member of that church body.
She was preceded in death by; her baby daughter, Lori Ann Knippa, her parents, Frank and Esther Kilian, and her lifelong husband, Alfred H. Knippa.
Mary is survived by; her two sons, Charles Knippa of Smithville, Tx, Rev. Greg Knippa and his wife, Alicia of Belton, Tx, grandsons, Andrew and Adam Knippa of Belton, Tx, Jonathan Knippa and wife Rachel of Houston, Tx, sister, Geneva Peymann and husband, Rev. Donald Peymann of Houston, Tx, and many brother and sister in laws, cousins, and other family members.
Mary will be greatly missed, but we can grieve with the sure and certain hope of salvation through our one and only Savior, Jesus Christ, … and we look forward to the resurrection of all who believe in Him, … and a grand reunion in heaven.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations may be made to Providence Hospice of Waco and or Zion Lutheran School “The Tuition Fund” in Walburg, Texas.
