Memorial services for Martha Jane James, 91, of Waco, will be held Saturday – February 18, 2012 @ 1:00 p.m. at Westwood Baptist Church located at 7509 Fairway Road in Waco. Martha passed away Saturday morning, February 4, 2012 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Waco, Texas.
Martha was born February 29, 1920 in Honey Grove, Texas, the daughter of Marshall George Lindsey and Carrie Camellia Mann Lindsey. She was a graduate of Dodd City High School. Martha was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and occasional played the piano. She enjoyed studying the bible, Greek/Hebrew, painting and working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jesse R. James, a son, Mickey R. James, her parents; six brothers, John L. Lindsey, Jack Lovell Lindsey, Ted Pierce Lindsey, Ray Lindsey, Lloyd Lindsey, and Willie Lindsey; and two sisters, Mary McGaha and Velma Tanner.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Lynn James and Rhett Todd Strother of Waco, Brother-in-law Bobby Skipwith of Wylie, TX, Sisters-in-law, Wanda Skipwith of Wylie, Eva Lindsey, Annabelle Lindsey of Dodd City, Marble Lindsey of Llano, TX, 2 Grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Ladewig and husband, Nathan of College Station, and Zachary Blaschke of Tomball, TX, 1 Great Grandchild, Addison Scout Putz, numerous nieces and nephews.
