Mark Dees, 53, of Lorena, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 after a valiant battle with a rare illness. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, officiated by Pastor Terry Wilkerson at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Mark was born November 25, 1964 at Fort Hood, Texas to SFC Curtis C. Dees and Judy Andrews Dees. He was a 1983 graduate of La Vega High School. Mark inherited the family trait of a love for welding, and enjoyed a long and successful career in the field. Mark enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a master handy man, doing all household projects and repairs. Mark loved and adored his family and friends, above all his sons and grandsons, and their mothers.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, SFC Curtis C. Dees, who died serving his country in Vietnam in 1969.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 32 years, Mary; sons, John, Andrew and his wife Kayla; mother, Judy Dees; sister, Dawnyce Barham and husband David; brothers in law, Bruce Havis, and Joe Havis and wife Angela; grandchildren, Layten and Easton Dees; Special Aunt and Uncle Jane and Jim Gilmore; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
Pallbearers are Jack Abel, Mickey Carter, Gary Durham, Gary Joe Hutyra, Wayne Morgan, Woodi Seith, and Norman Wade. Honorary Pallbearers are Ed Ctvrtlik, Gene Daughtry, and Papa Joe Morgan.
The family would like to thank Bluebonnet Hospice for their loving care, above all Isaac, Lawrence, Brenda, Brandi, and Chaplin Monte.
