Biography
Marjorie Johnson Dill, 82 of Waco, Texas (formerly of Ravenswood, WV) died on February 2, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 8, 1928 and grew up in Parkersburg, WV. She was the daughter of the late Kelsey and Alice (Butcher) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ernest O. Dill, Jr and her son-in-law, Ronald Nelson.
Loving mother of Creig Dill of Waco, TX, Steven Dill (Kristi) of Pittsburgh, PA, Beth Nelson of Waco, TX, and Leisa Strohmaier (Thomas) of Guilford, CT. Also survived by her cherished grandchildren Jason Strohmaier of Branford, CT, Megan Strohmaier of New York City, Andrew Nelson of Denton, TX and Lance Dill of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her brother, David D. Johnson of Parkersburg, WV, her brother-in-law, Dr. Marvin Dill of Huntington, WV and her sister-in-law, Marie Gregg of Detroit, MI, and her dear cousins.
Marjorie was an owner of Dill’s Fire and Safety Equipment in Ravenswood where she worked for many years. She was an avid sports fan and loved the West Virginia Mountaineers. Marjorie loved to cook and entertain for her family and friends. She loved reading and playing cards.
Marjorie was a devout Christian and a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She was a selfless person. She left us just as she lived her life – with grace and dignity. Marjorie was a delight to all who knew and loved her. A true lady who led by example, never judged people and always had something nice to say about everyone. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 6th at the Hewitt Church of Christ, 816 S 1st Street in Hewitt, TX. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions in Marjorie’s name be sent to the Hewitt Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in West Virginia.
