Marjorie Ann Blair of Waco Texas passed away on July 18, 2023 where she was a resident at St. Anthony’s Care Center. Margie’s Celebration of Life Memorial services will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway Texas on Friday July 21, 2023. The visitation is at 10:30 and services will begin at 11:30. A private inurnment will be at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis Texas with her parents.
Margie was born in Ennis, Texas on September 15, 1942 to Victor and Madelyn (Robertson) Nekuza. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. After high school she attended business college in Dallas, TX.
Margie worked in Dallas in banking for many years in clerical positions and at State Farm Insurance in the auto claims department. She finished her career after moving to Spring Branch Texas, where she moved to be closer to her son Greg and his family, working for the Marriott Corporation in San Antonio in their reservations department. Because of Margie’s love of children, she also did lots of babysitting and childcare at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bulverde, Texas where she was a member.
She then moved to Waco to be near her daughter Joni to be cared for in her final years. She continued her work with children at First Woodway’s Mother’s Day Out program until she could no longer work. In her retirement, she spent time sewing, crocheting and doing needlepoint. She loved her sweet dog Winnie who now resides with Joni.
Family and friends were a very important part of Margie’s life and she always put others’ needs before her own. Her friends were blessed that she loved them so fiercely! She treasured these relationships and would drop everything to help someone in need. After her mother passed away, Margie invited her daddy to live with her and he did until shortly before his death. She was generous with her time and loved to be with her kids and grandkids.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved mother and daddy Victor and Madelyn Nekuza, her brother John Nekuza and her sister Darla Allen. She will be missed by her children Greg Snell and his wife Desi, her daughter Joni Greathouse and husband Quinn, and her grandchildren Katie Snell, Luke Snell, Ben Greathouse and Emily Greathouse.
Margie accepted Christ as her savior as a young girl in vacation Bible school. She followed the Lord by serving in church ministries and serving others. Although her family mourns that she will no longer be at family gatherings, we are certain of where she now resides with her Savior Jesus.
