Marianne Schiedler

Marianne Schiedler, 63, of Hewitt, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. with Interim Associate Pastor of Senior Adults Tom Campbell officiating.

Marianne was born May 4, 1950, in Oberhausen, Germany to Anna Winkelheck and Theodor Andres. From early on, she was an adventurous spirit. Marianne loved to travel, whether to Jordan, Lebanon, or just the Texas Hill Country in order to see the beauty of God’s creation. No matter where she traveled, Marianne knew no strangers and quickly made many friends at every destination.

In her early thirties, she moved from Germany to Colorado. When she saw mountainous landscape, she thought she had arrived in the Garden of Eden. There she spent her time, tending to her family and her rose garden.

In 2002, she relocated once again, this time to Waco. Here she dedicated her time to her three grandsons, the Church and the Texas German Society. In these years, God truly called her to the service of others, whether it was through serving as a lunchroom monitor at Woodway Christian School, providing meals and care for elderly individuals in her community, or spreading German language, culture and food to members of the Texas German Society. One of her proudest moments in these years was when Pastor Mike Toby baptized her in 2009.
Marianne was an amazing cook and an avid gardener. But, above all other things, she cherished her family and God. She was a devoted friend, mother and Oma, who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Smith and her husband, Russell; her son, David Schiedler; three grandsons, Corey, Logan, and Braden; her sisters, Hildegard Ostendorf, Gisela Brosowski, and Christa Pohlmann; her brother, Werner Andres; and their families.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Woodway Christian School.
