A funeral service will be 10:00am, Monday, May 29, 2023 with an interment following at Axtell Cemetery.
Mami was born in Romania, on October 30th, 1933 to Floarea & Matei Cirstea. When she was two years old she was adopted by Mama Rusa and her husband so that they could care for her. At 21 years old, Mami met Samoila Marton and together they built a legacy of 15 children. Through Samoila, Mami began to fix her eyes on the Lord because of the strength of his faith.
When Mami received Christ in her heart, her faith grew every day, despite the trials and tribulations she faced being from a communist country. She was persecuted by the government, with threats of imprisonment, but through her faith, she persevered. Even with the risk of imprisonment, Mami’s answer was ‘I’ll GO’ because she knew someone needed to minister to them about Christ. Mami was known to share the gospel with every man, woman, and child in her vicinity, sharing Christ with anyone she encountered. Mami was able to perform healing miracles through Christ as her stronghold during her time working in the city hospital. News of God’s power reached all floors of the hospital and beyond. Because of her love for Him and being in His presence, people came to receive Christ, astonished at the miracles He was performing.
The legacy Mami left behind was the legacy of love and of faith. The struggles that plagued Mami, Samoila and their children were no match for the power of Christ. Mami raised her children to believe that through Christ all things were possible. When they were faced with famine and sickness, Mami’s faith did not waiver. Through fasting and prayer with all her children, God always showed his provision and healing, just like He promised He would. Mami would give to others even when she did not have enough to give to herself, but God always provided.
God spoke to Mami, telling her He would move her to the other end of the world. Being from a communist country, she did dream of a better life, as did everyone else. People would say it was impossible but as time progressed, God’s promise came to fruition. Samoila and one of his daughters fled the country. This is where Mami’s journey began. God guided and paved the way for her to bring her legacy to America. Mami and her children moved to America in 1980, being sponsored by Brother Jim and Sharon Drisdell from Waco, TX. Samoila, Mami and their children were reunited.
Their journey continued, growing her faith through abundant blessings in a new country, from even the most basic of things. Through the family’s faith and hard work, God provided land and a home, in which they created a place of worship. A stronghold, a rock in the community was Mami, and her rock was Jesus Christ. She turned her home into a church, a place where people would gather and praise the Lord. The church, Axtell Christian Fellowship, has stood the test of changing times, and is still standing. Mami continued to pour herself into God's work. She was known for praying and reading the Bible fervently, and always sharing the Gospel. Mami loved all of God’s creations. She especially loved to tend to her garden, animals, and her Pomeranian.
Mami was known by all as being a Holy woman, a woman of God, a woman of strong Faith, and for being giving and compassionate. Because of Christ, even though Mami was not perfect, He still worked through her, creating miracles.
Mami was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord, her children; Luminita, Mariana, and Sammy, her two grandchildren; Claudiu and Christian; her son-in-law Vasile, and the father of her children; Samoila.
Mami left a legacy of her loving children and their spouses; Ilie, Lidia, Iliana (Mica), Luci (Petru), Nellie (Bruce), Daniel (Nicol), Daniela (Cosmin), Cornel (Elvira), Stela, Marius (Daniela), and Eve (Cristi), 105 grandchildren and their spouses, 78 great grandchildren (and 5 more on the way), son-in-law, Eugene Lupu, daughter-in-law, Sofia Marton, as well as numerous friends.
Mami received her wish of having a sound mind until the very end of her 89 years and 7 months of life, 32,714 days here on earth. Mami got to know Christ and made Him known all her life.
She fulfilled the greatest commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind and also…you shall love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37,39).
