Robinson, Texas

Margarette Leel Smith, affectionately known as Mauggie, passed away on November 29, 2024, in her hometown of Waco, Texas. She was born on March 17, 1975, in Waco, where she would eventually build a life filled with cherished relationships.

Mauggie's career spanned many years at Ferguson in McGregor, Texas, where she was well-respected for her work ethic and dedication. Her personality was marked by her blunt honesty and infectious sense of humor, which left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

She possessed a remarkable green thumb, nurturing plants with great care and love. An enthusiastic cook, Mauggie found joy in preparing meals, and even greater joy in eating them. Mauggie was something of a connoisseur of rock music, able to recall extensive facts about the bands she loved. Mauggie's spirit came alive during sunset drives and while in nature, experiences that she relished.

Above all, Mauggie’s greatest love was her daughter, Danielle. The bond they shared was profound and unwavering; motherhood brought out the very best in Mauggie, and it was in loving Danielle that she shone the brightest. Her love for her family was at the center of her life.

Mauggie was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Smith and Peggy Mattlage; her former husband, Daniel Garcia.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Danielle Lynch, and her cherished grandchildren, Cooper and Hazel Lynch. Mauggie also leaves behind her brother, Todd Parsons; sister, Tanya Sluder; nephew, Jacob Sluder; his wife, Elizabeth; and their daughters, Isabella and Amelia. She is further survived by her two beloved cats, Bo Jangles and Mitzi, who brought her companionship and joy.

Mauggie's legacy will continue to live on through memories, we celebrate a life lived authentically and with great love. Mauggie passed from this world surrounded by loved ones who will miss her dearly, may she rest in peace in the grace of our Lord.
