Margaret “Margie” Raatz passed away Wednesday night, June 7, 2022, at the age of 90. A visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday June 9, 2022, in the Bluebonnet Parlor of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr., Waco, Texas. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 10, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Dunman officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park.
Margie was born February 3, 1932, in Berlin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Bert and Margaret (Groff) Walker. She graduated from Drexel Institute in Philadelphia, PA with a B.S. Degree in Retail Management. As part of this college program, she trained with Joskes’ Bros. in San Antonio. After the Executive Training Program, she chose to come back to Joskes as a handbag and small leather goods buyer. Being employed by Joskes for 5 years, she met her future husband Herb Raatz who was in Appliance Advertising for Joskes. On May 24, 1959, they married. Margie and Herb had 3 children, they move to Dallas 10 years later where they became Managers for Tupperware Home Parties. They became Tupperware Distributors in the Waco-Temple-Killeen area, naming their business Dandy Sales, Inc. After 25 years they retired and both Margie and Herb enjoyed a seasonal business in school fund-raising called Liberty Card for 8 years.
For 8 years, Margie and Herb delivered Meals on Wheels. The family was involved for many years at Western Heights Baptist Church with the Sarah Class being very important to Margie. At her death, Margie was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Herb in 2003, a great grandson, Ethan Boehme and a brother, Ben Walker.
Margie is survived by her children Stephen and children, Austin and Ashley; granddaughter, Melissa Raatz Boehme and husband Casey and son Ryan; daughter Kathy Mirick and husband Bret and daughters Jordan and Lindsay; daughter Carol; great grandchildren, Charlie and Camden Harrison; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou and 3 children, Jim, Bert, Sue and their families.
