Margaret Ann (Warren (Hyman)) Blanton

Margaret Blanton, 94, a lifelong resident of the Waco, Texas area died on February 3, 2021 at Stoney Brook Assisted Living Home in Hewitt. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her presence in their lives, but her strong, loving spirit will continue to live in their hearts. She will be buried in Stanford Chapel Cemetery on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service. The family asks that attendees please wear a face-mask and follow social distancing guidelines.

Margaret was born in the Waco area, the second of four children to Herbert Weldon Warren and Corrine Day. Her siblings were Allene Warren Pack, Barbara Warren Birkes, and Herbert Weldon Warren II. They moved to Lorena during Margaret’s childhood, and Margaret graduated from Lorena High School in 1944.

Margaret married Vaughan Hyman in 1948. They were married for 43 years before his death in 1990. Margaret married Billy Blanton, a life long friend in 1992. Margaret and Vaughan and Billy and his first wife, June double dated as young couples. Margaret and Billy were married 17 years before Billy’s death in 2009.

Margaret worked for the Bell Telephone Company after high school until she completed her Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1967. She then completed her Master’s Degree and added a counselor certification and a diagnostician certification from Baylor. She taught in the Moody ISD for 4 years and then was hired as a counselor and diagnostician for Waco ISD until her retirement in 1994.

Margaret worked throughout her life and was also a help to her husband, Vaughan, on the family farm while they raised two children, Virginia (Jenny) Lee Hyman Dixon and William (Bill) Vaughan Hyman. They will tell you what an intelligent, creative, and spiritual woman she was. She sewed like a professional, her cooking was the source of many family recipes that are still favorites, she painted oils that hang in her childrens’ homes, and she had more books than any one person should ever have. She loved working crossword puzzles and could even solve them with an ink pen. She set the standards high and was an example to Jenny and Bill of how to live life the right way.

Margaret was a member of Hewitt First Baptist Church for over 75 years. She taught many different Sunday School Classes and served on numerous committees during those years. She loved to attend Bible Study and everyone that knew her, knew she loved her Lord. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends.

Margaret is survived by her children, Jenny Dixon and husband, Jimmy, of Waco and Bill Hyman and wife, Carol, of Huntsville, grandchildren Amy Dixon, Dawn Kostohryz and husband, Sean, Katy Stone and husband, Kahler, and Abbey Heffner and husband Steven, and sister, Barbara Birkes. She has seven great-grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Corrine Warren, Husbands Vaughan Hyman and Billy Blanton, brother, Herb Warren II, sister, Allene Warren Pack, and grandson Brady James Dixon.
