Margaret Gonzales Ballesteros

Margaret Gonzales Ballesteros passed away August 11, 2022 in Waco, Texas at the age of 101.  A visitation and rosary will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2022, in the chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home 8220 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church with Father Jose Jazo as Celebrant.  Internment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Margaret was born May 18, 1921 in Rosebud, Texas. She grew up during the depression therefore she had money management skills that enabled her to help her husband open an upholstery shop. Margaret started working to contribute to the family right out of eighth grade. Her parents would eventually move the family to Waco where Margaret attended Waco public schools. She met Andrew Macias in
1940. They courted and fell in love and at the age of 23 they married and started their family. To bring more opportunities to her family, Margaret worked as a factory seamstress which would become her trade for life. They were married 23 years until his death in November of 1967. Margaret worked as a seamstress until 1972 when she retired to care for her granddaughter, Lisa. During her early retirement she was a volunteer for the Area Agency on Aging, McLennan county Extension Service, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), and also taught English as a Second Language (ESL). She remained single until 1976 when she met Tomas Ballesteros. They courted and married in April of 1976. They remained
married 49 years. Margaret and Tom shared many happy memories attending the
City of Waco's South Waco, Kate Ross and Sul Ross Senior Citizen Centers, traveling and spending time with friends, traveling with family, attending dances but mostly spending time with each other. The other love of her life were her grandkids and her great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her father Nicanor Gonzales, Mother Margarita Gonzales, Brothers Charles Gonzales, John Gonzales and Sister Josie Quintanilla, first Husband Andrew Avelino Macias, Son John Richard Macias and Son Andrew Avelino Macias Jr and son-in-law Luis C. Gonzales and step son Freddie Ballesteros

She is survived by her youngest sibling, whom she loved and adored, Louis Gonzales, whom she nick named and called Louie throughout her life, and much loved Sister-in-law Dolores. She is also survived by her husband Tomas Ballesteros, Daughter and oldest child Gloria Macias Gonzales, Grandaughter Lisa
Macias Gonzales Chavez and husband Saul, Grandson Andrew Macias III, Grandson Robert Louis Casiano of Florida, Great grand chlidren Jared Michael Macias, Victoria Renee Martinez and Christopher Gregory
Chavez and Alexander Luis Casiano of Florida. She is also survived by her step son Tomas Ballesteros Jr. Also survived by Margaret is her adopted grandchild Marina Vega. Thank you Marina for loving her the way you do. And thank you to you Fabiola, a friend she held close to her heart, for loving her the way you love her.
