Malvina M. “Moose” Hunter Kultgen
Malvina M. “Moose” Hunter Kultgen, 64, of Waco,passed away Friday, June 8, 2013 at Royal Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday June 13th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
The second of six children, Moose was born January 29, 1949 at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth to Rembert and Marie Krizan Murphy. Her lifelong passion was nursing from 1969 to 2009, when she retired. Moose spent most of her career working for Providence Hospital from 1974 – 2006. She got her LVN from Hillcrest Hospital and her RN from MCC. Moose specialized in cardiology and critical care, touching countless lives with her dedication to providing the highest possible care.
Moose spent 30+ years working for the HOT Fair and Rodeo, first as a nursing volunteer and eventually becoming the Director of First Aid. In recent years, Moose was a colony caretaker for the Lion’s Park feral cat colony and an active volunteer for the HOT Feral Friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Hunter III; her father, Remert ; brothers Remert Murphy Jr. and Henry Murphy; her sister, Rosemary Witt.
Moose is survived by her daughter, Emily Hunter; her mother, Marie; sisters Patsy Dillinger and husband Dale, Linda Milligan and husband Ed, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Royal Manor and Providence Hospice for providing Moose with comfort, care and kindness. Thanks also to Dr. Kosarek and staff at Hillcrest Clinic for the excellent care given.
