Lynda Burnside

Lynda Deanne Burnside, 76, passed away September 17, 2018. Lynda was born October 31, 1941 in East Chicago, Indiana to George and Bernadine Haskins.

In 1962, Lynda earned her Registered Nurse degree from Presbyterian St. Luke's. Lynda married John Burnside, MD in March 21, 1964. Together they raised three sons.

Lynda dedicated her life to the care of humans and animals. In 1984 she helped found Talbot Place, an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Hummelstown, PA. In 1991, John and Lynda moved to Glen Rose, TX and had a horse ranch, which they dearly loved. Lynda was able to care for many animals and horses during this time.

Lynda was also gifted musically, and fortunate to have perfect pitch. She was such a talented piano and organ player that she participated in a recital at Carnegie Hall as a teenager. She was able to use her gift to fill in for the church organist only because she wasn't visible, she suffered crippling stage fright.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John, who passed away in May 2015.

She is survived by, her sons, Andrew and wife Ann, Mathew and wife , Paul and wife ; grandchildren, Samuel, Jackson, Katherine, Lucy, and one on the way.
