Lula Hays

Biography

Lula Cecile Hays passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at a local retirement center. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10th, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with burial following at Waco Memorial Park.

Lula was born September 21, 1923 in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. She was a restaurant manager at several locations, a member of THEOS, and various bowling leagues, and she loved dancing. She was also a member of Cogdell Methodist Church.

Lula was a loving mother, grandmother, and a special person to all those she knew. What she will be remembered for most was loving and caring for others. She will be dearly missed.


Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Alcia Joseph and Agnes Bonvillain LeBouef; her husband of 49 years, William McNeily Hays, Sr.; and her son, William McNeily Hays, Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Hays and wife Goldie of San Antonio, Texas, and Kirk Hays and wife Suzee of Lake Tahoe, Nevada; daughters Janet Hays Glockzen and husband Johnny of China Spring, Texas and Colleen Hays Gilchrest and husband Byron of Belton, Texas; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; along with special friend Marvin McGaugh.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Cottages of Meadowlands Terrace for the love and care they have graciously given Lula.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
