Lola Solero

Lola Lee Solero of McGregor went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Jan. 21, 2017 at the age of 83. She had been a resident of St. Catherine Center in Waco since February of 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway, with a visitation preceding it at 1p.m..

Lola was born on May 7, 1933 to Sam J. Seay and Flossie (Gorgon) Seay of Mt. Calm. She grew up in Mt. Calm in a large family. After finishing school, she moved to Waco where she met the love of her life, Norman (Sonny) Solero. He was stationed at Connally Air Force Base. The two married on Dec. 10, 1950 in Marlin. After traveling with the Air Force, they returned to make their lifelong home in McGregor. He worked for Rocketdyne/Hercules, and she owned and operated the Dor Ve' Beauty Salon. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church of McGregor.

Lola was full of life and love. She adored her family and was a friend to many. She liked cooking, flower gardening, dancing and good music- particularly that of Elvis Presley. Her favorite past-time was definitely shopping. She was a collector of all things pretty-antiques, dolls, clothes, shoes, jewelry, you name it. If it was pretty, she bought it. But she was also a giver. She and Sonny had no children of their own, but were a blessing to numerous nieces and nephews, and others she loved and treated as her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sonny, her parents, a sister, Tiny Faye Seay, and brothers Horace Seay and Buddy Seay.

She is survived by a sister Jo Carol Schraeder and her husband, Ray, brother, Ray Seay and wife Patsy, all of McGregor, and sister in law, Louise Seay of Allen.

A Special Thank You to the amazing staff of nurses and caregivers at St. Catherine Center, and the hospice caregivers from Providence Hospice.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association.
