Linn Marshall McFadden

Linn Marshall McFadden, age 84, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, May 7th, 2023. Memorial services will be at Killeen Veterans Cemetery with full military honors on Thursday, May 25th at 11am with interment to follow.

Mr. McFadden was known by many names Linn, Dad, Pop and PawPaw. Linn was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ray and Wilma McFadden, his brother Gene McFadden and his grandson Alex Graham.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, his beloved dachshund Dot and his four children: Patricia Hagan, Linnette Graham, Leilani Leon, and David McFadden. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Linn is a retired veteran of the Army after 20 years of service where he received medals and honors. His service included being stationed in Ft. Hood, Ft. Watchuka, Hawaii, Ft. Knox, S. Korea and Germany. He also served in the Vietnam War in the 25th Infantry where he survived a helicopter crash.

Linn was born in Macomb, Illinois. As a child, he learned to work with wood and fix many items, this is a skill set that would be carried through his life. He graduated from Phoenix Christian High School in Casa Grande, Arizona in 1957. As he grew older, he began to learn many trade skills such as woodworking and metalworking. Linn enjoyed manufacturing items that would solve a problem or provide a purpose. He could build almost anything from bunk beds to jewelry boxes.

Linn then developed a love for jewelry making with precious gemstones and turquoise. This interest and creativity, along with his knowledge as a silversmith, led him to a successful jewelry business. His attention to detail was legendary and he took pride in the fact that he could create many beautiful items. Linn and his wife traveled throughout central Texas to be a vendor at arts and craft sales as well as many gun shows. He became known for his jewelry pieces and signature silversmith skills. Linn’s hobbies included coin collecting, spending time with his wife Glenda and dedicating many hours, days, weeks and months into researching and recording his family genealogy.
