Lindley Elliott Sr

July 10, 1941 — June 11, 2017

Lindley Franklin Elliott, Sr., age 75, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00pm; on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at First United Methodist Church Waco.

Lindley was born on July 10, 1941 to Walter Allen and Maggie Elliott in Arp, Texas. He grew up in Overton, Texas and loved living in the country and had many fun adventures with his cousins and friends. Even after he grew up and had a family of his own, Lindley always loved going back home, especially to his mother’s cornbread and black-eyed peas. He graduated from Overton Highschool and Stephen F Austin with a degree in business. After graduation, Lindley began his 30-year career with TU Electric (Oncor). Lindley was a community leader and supporter of many organizations, including The Salvation Army, United Way, American Red Cross, Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo, Brazos Board for Higher Education, Rotary Club, Camp Fire Girls, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Lindley was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting trips with his brothers and friends and had many fun stories to share. He loved old-western movies and country-and-western music. Lindley was proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments and loved their visits. A very special highlight was seeing his son, Lin, win a Super Bowl as a Dallas Cowboy!

Lindley is proceeded in death by his parents, Walter Allen and Maggie Elliott; first wife, Diana Lea Roberts Elliott; brothers W.A. (Dub) Elliott and James (Kelly) Elliott; and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, Lindley is survived by his daughter Lauree and husband, Jeff, son Lin and wife, Joy, and daughter Karie and husband, Marcus. He was dearly loved by all of his grandchildren: Kate, Emily, Sam, Remi, Hannah, Emma, Bella and Eli.

A special thanks to caregiver, Triva O’Neal and the staff at St. Catherines. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army and The First United Methodist Church Waco.
