Lenroy Sherwood

Lenroy Sherwood of Hewitt, passed away Tuesday morning September 4, 2018, at the age of 81. A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Hewitt with Rev. Cynthia Moss and Rev. Randy Scrivener officiating.

Mr. Sherwood was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Pidcoke, Texas, the son of the late Joseph Browning and Stella E. (Rose) Sherwood. He was a 1956 graduate of Gatesville High School. On Sep. 30, 1989, he married the former Rita Terry Henson in Gatesville.

For twenty-five years, he was employed by Texas Coffin Company as a purchasing agent. In 1998, he retired from the distribution plant at M&M Mars after fifteen years of service.

Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, wood working and general “puttering” around the house repairing various things.

Lenroy, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hewitt where he served as an usher and custodian for many years.

Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Kensel, Ferman, James, Mead, Clyde and Joe Sherwood; sisters, Winnie, Oleta, Betty, Ida Mae and Mable.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Rita Sherwood; three sons, John Fisher and wife Stacy, Gerry Lynn Sherwood and wife Debra, Rick Dean Sherwood; a daughter, Rebecca Williams and husband Terry; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
