LaVerne Raye (Meeck) Johnson, 74, of Woodway, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 with Rev. Stephen Rynearson officiating at Peace Lutheran Church, 9301 Panther Way, Hewitt, TX. Visitation will be 5 -7 p.m. Sunday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.

LaVerne, was born September 17, 1938, in Palestine, TX to Oswald and Erna Meeck. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1956 and later married Bennice Johnson on July 25, 1957. A marriage that has lasted 56 years. LaVerne, was also a member of the Peace Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles Meeck.

She is survived by her husband, Bennice Johnson; sons, Craig Johnson and wife Holly of Woodway, Keith Johnson and wife Brenda of Thorndale; grandsons, Benjamin, Nicholas and Dean Johnson; sisters, Doris Lasiter of Palestine, Joyce Grasty and husband Roy of Palestine, Aileen Batte and husband Charles of Belton, Sister-in-law Betty Douthit of Palestine and numerous dear family and friends.
