Laura Mae Meier, 61, of Lorena, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her home. A Celebration of her life will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 3rd at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr, Waco, Texas. A BBQ luncheon will follow at the Hewitt VFW, 725 Sun Valley BLVD, Hewitt, Texas.
Laura was born April 3, 1958 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Alice (Olson) and Wendell Kramp. Laura grew up on a family farm with her three siblings. She was a 1976 graduate of Northwestern High School in Mellette, South Dakota. She attended Aberdeen School of Commerce and studied accounting where she earned an associate’s degree. She met the love of her life, Larry Meier, in 1978 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple was later married in 1982 and began their family in Bismarck, North Dakota. Later moving to Lorena, Texas Laura felt the calling to become a Nurse and went back to school while raising two sons. She received her Bachelor’s of Nursing from University of Texas at Arlington. She enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse and A Director of Nursing.
Laura enjoyed traveling and adventures with her family, they have been to every state, and Canada. She loved taking bike trips, jet skiing, boating, water skiing, and walking on the beach.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wendell Kramp; and step father, Paul Hopfinger.
Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of 37 years, Larry; sons, Justin and wife Sara, Derek; mother, Alice; mother in law, Florence Meier; brother, Steven Kramp and wife Nora; sisters, Anne Kramp, Linda Fix and husband Milbert; grandsons, Jace, Jaxson; sisters in law, Charlotte Enger and husband Carl, Sharon Vetter and husband Myles, Donna Thronson and husband Todd, Jane Holtz and husband Robert, Dianne Noel and husband Mike, Brothers in law, Ronald Meier, Michael Meier; step siblings, Lyle Hopfinger and wife Donna, Larry Hopfinger and wife Melinda, Terri Hagman, Heidi Troendele and husband Richard, Kevin Hopfinger and wife Kim; numerous nieces and nephews; and many awesome friends.
