Laura Lumpkin

December 31, 1915 — April 25, 2011

Laura Amelia Lumpkin age 95, of Waco passed away Monday April 25, 2011 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be held 1: 00 PM Saturday April 30, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 2308 North Valley Mills Dr., Waco, Texas.

Laura was born December 31, 1915 in Georgetown, Texas to Bartlett E. and Laura Agusta Crawford. She grew up in Bastrop, Texas and graduated a Doctor of Chiropractic in November, 1939 from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio, Texas. In 1945 she married C.P. Lumpkin who owned Lumpkin Cleaners. She was preceded in death by her husband C. P. "Pete" Lumpkin of Waco, Texas and one brother Albert Crawford of Smithville, Texas. Mrs. Lumpkin was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1969. She enjoyed telling everyone she met about God's Kingdom ruled by Christ Jesus and the promised better life when there will be no more death, pain and sorrow.

Laura is survived by one brother David Crawford of San Antonio, Texas, a sister Katherine Rodgers of Richmond, Virginia, three sons Calvin Lumpkin and wife LaNell of Hewitt, Texas Melvin Lumpkin and wife Nancy of Woodway, Texas Carroll Lumpkin and wife Carolita of Duncanville, Texas; Six grandchildren Tamara Rosas, Benjamin Lumpkin, Carey Lumpkin, Jennifer Lumpkin, Shannon Dickerson, and Patton Lumpkin; 5 great grandchildren.

The family would like to send our thanks to the Providence hospital staff, Providence Hospice and a very special thanks to Gina Schwinn who lovingly tended to her while in the hospital.
