Larry McBride

Larry McBride, 76, passed away December 24, 2017. Services will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m., December 30, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Ken James officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Larry grew up in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1959. He entered the Navy while in high school, 1958-1959. He later did a two year tour of active duty, stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a helmsman on the U.S. Gyatt and spent six months in the Mediterranean.

He came back from the Navy and worked at Rocketdyne for 3 years. Then he worked at Lone Star Gas for 30 years as a meter reader until his retirement.

In 1965 he married Carol Carden in Beaumont, Texas. They moved to Waco when she finished her senior year at Baylor and graduated in May of 1966. She then taught school for 41 years.

His hobbies were fast cars and boats. Being on the lake were his happiest days. He took many friends riding. He also enjoyed cruising. He and Carol enjoyed 27 cruises together.
