Larry Gene Folmar, 80, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 15, 2017 at Grace Gardens Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. A visitation with the family will be 9:00 am, Friday, September 15, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Larry was born June 22, 1937 in Winkler, Texas to Martha Lorene (Owens) and Willie Z Folmar. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1955 and attended Texas A & M 1955-1956.
Larry was a very active member of his community. He was a member of the Waco Rotary Club, and a Paul Myer recipient; he served as President of HOT Council of Boy Scouts, and was a Scout Leader, receiving the Silver Beaver Award; he served as a member of the TSTC Board of Diesel Mechanical, as well as coached little league baseball and football.
Larry worked for International Harvester in Wichita Falls, Dallas, El Paso, and Waco from 1956-1975. He established Central Texas International Inc. dealership in 1975 and built new facilities in 1979, he served as the CEO until the spring of 2015.
Larry married the love of his life, Nilean Elliot, in 1956 and they had three children, Judy Elaine, Dwight Allen, and Dennis Lyn. He loved his family dearly.
Mr. Folmar was preceded in death by his parents, several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Nilean; children, Judy Parker, Dwight and Diane Folmar, and Dennis Folmar; grandchildren, Joshua Folmar, Ashley McLain, and Jennifer Parker; great grand children, Karcyn, Alexis, and Sloane; brothers, Gary, and Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Wesley Woods and Providence Hospice for care.
