Laddie Broadway

January 4, 1950 — April 3, 2015

Earl Broadway, 65, passed away peacefully Friday, April 03, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. Because of his love of the great outdoors, a private graveside service will be at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery.
Earl was the son of Laddie Earl and Mary Elizabeth Broadway. He attended schools in Waco where he was active in sports; and graduated from Waco High in 1968. While attending McLennan Community College, he played baseball for the Highlanders. Earl graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1973 with a BS in Corrections and Criminology. In 1979, he earned a Master of Criminal Justice.
On Aug. 9, 1970, Earl met Mary Arline Broadway. Exactly 5 yrs later, they were married at St. Louis Catholic Church, August 09, 1975. Married 39 yrs, they were making plans for their 40th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters; Jill Marie and her husband Justin Ham and Ellen Elizabeth and her husband Jared Whitson. Earl is fondly called "Bubba" by his 4 grandchildren: Carson and Emery Ham, and Hollin and Elizabeth (Libby) Whitson.
During Earl's career, he was an adult Probation Officer for McLennan County; and was commissioned a member of the Governor's Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Board. He later worked in the finance industry and transitioned into owning his own business in real estate and rental property.

Hunting and fishing were always Earl's favorite hobbies. During his retirement years, he enjoyed cruising around town on his bike; and it was usually in the back of his truck so he would be ready to ride, even on vacations.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Mary Carol Hartley. He will be missed and remembered for his "one of a kind personality" by many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Earl's honor to Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center (MCRC), 802 Ventura Ave., Midland, TX 79705, or http://staging.midlandchildrens.org/donate/ . MCRC is a facility that offers rehabilitation for children with special needs; and where one of his grandchildren receives services.
