Keith Pierce Grigsby, 85, of Lorena went to be with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy battle with several debilitating strokes. A memorial visitation is set for 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 28, at Grace Garden Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Bryson of the First United Methodist Church of Lorena will officiate. Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home.
Keith was born March 14, 1935 in rural Bell County to Robert Lee Grigsby and Bessie Mae Pierce Grigsby. Keith attended school in Bartlett, Texas, and excelled in both academics and sports. After graduation, he enrolled in Southwestern University in Georgetown on a sports scholarship until an injury ended his athletic career.
He was married to Bette Ann Pairett for 46 years, until her death in 2001.
Keith’s first job after college was with Texas Power and Light in Waco. He went on to work 32 years for General Tire and Rubber Co. until his retirement in 1987.
He held on to his passion for sports and also loved hunting, fishing and camping in Colorado, where he spent many summers with family and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by us all.
In addition to Bette, Keith was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
His survivors include his wife, Monica, and a sister, Lois Grigsby Irby. Keith is also survived by daughter Sharon Grigsby, son Kyle Grigsby, and Kyle’s wife, Melody. Grandchildren are Matthew Morton and his wife, Lesya, Pierce Morton, Keith Grigsby, and Kristy Dumas and her husband David. Great-grandchildren are Kaden and Kody Dumas.
In accordance with his wishes, Keith’s ashes will be spread on Handkerchief Mesa, a spot in southern Colorado that was long close to his heart.
I lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lorena United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
