Judy Colene McMillan, 63, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and devoted teacher passed away Nov. 15, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at the First United Methodist Church of Moody, Pastor William Sterling officiating. Burial will follow at the Moody Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. , Thursday, Nov. 17 at the church. She will be lying in state beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday and at 10:30 a.m. on Friday also at the church.
Judy was born on Dec. 13, 1947 to Beryl and Violet Donaldson. Judy grew up in a caring family and graduated from Moody High School in 1966. She then went on to attend the University of Texas in Austin. She graduated with a degree in education and began her journey touching young hearts and minds.
She married Jimmy H. McMillan in 1970 and after living in areas of Temple and Houston settled down in Moody, TX.
She was a loving and understanding wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy’s family was very important to her and she enjoyed family dinners, vacations, and most importantly gatherings during the holidays.
She will be remembered as a person of great strength and an inspiration to all. Her battle these last few months did not diminish her spirit or her love and utmost obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ.
She leaves behind thousands of students that just by knowing her will be changed forever. Her family will miss her dearly but find comfort that she is with her Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Gloria Donaldson.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jimmy McMillan; daughters, Heidi Elmore and husband Brent Elmore of Crawford, and Millie Ward and husband Henry Ward, Jr. of Moody; her beloved grandchildren, Avery Ward, Peyton Elmore, Brady Ward, and Laney Elmore; brothers, Sonny Donaldson, Kent Donaldson; sister, Jane Chaney; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
“Granny” will forever live in our hearts!
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews: Marc Donaldson, Hal Donaldson, John Donaldson, Mike Chaney, Patrick Chaney, and Spencer Chaney.
