Joyce Ilene (Blackburn) Morris

Joyce Morris of Waco (formerly from McGregor) passed away Monday night, November 13, 2023 at the age of 82. Visitation will be Friday, November 17th from 6-8pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Saturday, November 18th, 10am at McGregor Cemetery.

Joyce was born October 20, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of the late Harry L Blackburn and Ila Mae (Dawson) Blackburn. Joyce was a 1959 graduate of McGregor High School. For 36 years she worked at the First National Bank in McGregor, retiring on May 29, 2009.

Joyce loved to read, watch her soap opera's and rarely missed her Wednesday "hair do" day. Joyce was a brave and determined woman who built her first new home just four years ago at the age of 78. She was a great cook and a world traveler who criss-crossed Europe on a month long rail pass with her sister. In 2021, she was able to reach her life goal of visiting every state in the USA on a cruise to Alaska. Joyce was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in McGregor.

Preceding Joyce in death are her parents, Harry and Ila Mae Blackburn and former husband Jimmy Morris.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Guest and her husband David of Waco, her sister, Cynthia Coday and husband Bob of Frisco, two special Aunts Barbara West and husband Wayne of Waco and Velda Blackburn of Goldthwaite, much loved and many cousins.

Also surviving Joyce are her 3 Grandpuppies Bella, Nahla and Kendi who she loved dearly.
