Biography

On Wednesday August 12, 1932 in Cambridge, St James, Jamaica a little girl was born to Hilda Moncriffe and Septimus Virgo. Her name was Joyce. She went to school in Cambridge, St James. At the age 27 years old she went to live and work in the Parish of St Mary.

While living in St Mary she took her niece Rose to live with her. They moved to Kingston at the end of 1959. Joyce nurtured Rose like a mother until she migrated to the United States. Prior to migrating she worked at the University of the West Indies as a waitress for the Doctors until she migrated to the United States in November 1970. She lived in Boston for nineteen years. During her nineteen years in Boston she worked at Mass General Hospital. Joyce met her exceptional, wonderful and in her own words "an excellent husband” Carl in June of 1978. They were married for 28 years. Joyce and Carl moved to Waco, Texas in June of 1989 enjoy a more suburban life style.

Mrs. Huggins began to experience a spate of ill health for the past few years. Through it all she never complains, she continued to bear witness to God’s kindness and maintain her faith.

Joyce lived a long life. A life that was with unquestionable integrity, dignity and character with a foundation of an unshakeable Christian faith. Although her life on earth ended on Saturday April 18th, 2009, Joyce Huggins lives on. She lives on in the memories that we carry in our hearts. Please celebrate with her and shout Glory!!! Her life was such a great gift for all of us.

She has left behind her wonderful husband Carl, sisters Iris, Vida, Pearl and Thelma, thirteen nieces, five nephews, sister in law, brother in law and a host of very dedicated friends and well wishers. May her soul rest in peace.

Joyce we love you!!!!!!!!!!
