Joseph Raymond Bartosch Sr. of Waco passed away on February 25, 2023 after a life well lived, loving others. A graveside service will be 10am, Friday, March 3, 2023 at Waco Memorial Park with Mark Wible officiating.

Joseph was born April 8, 1929 in Waco to Josephine Kousal and Corbett Hardin. He spent his childhood living at the Methodist Home while his mother worked at the Evangalea Home until she moved to Speegleville and he was old enough to work on the farm.

He was drafted into the United States Army but was discharged after four months due to asthma. He graduated high school and married Helen Marie Powell, the love of his life. He worked hard for his father in law building duplexes and fixing rental properties to put himself through college at Waco Tech.

After receiving his degree, he worked as an architect for different firms until he was hired by Baylor University where his title was Manager of Facility Planning. He worked at Baylor for 20 years.

He had a love of woodworking; many people knew him as the guy with birdhouses for sale at the Apple Tree Bazarre. He had a servant’s heart and spent many years serving at First United Methodist Church of Waco and Highland Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Powell.

Survivors include his children, Joe Bartosch, Jon Bartosch, Sharon Wells and Shirley Brown. Grandchildren, Suzy and husband, Elliott Karash, Jessica Bartosch, Jon and wife, Kayley Bartosch, Amber Shotwell, Leah and husband, Derek Pasteka, Natasha and husband, Javier Garcia, Seth and wife, Haley Wells. Great Grandchildren, Jameson, Ian, Noah and Solomon Karash, Aliza, Allison and John Shotwell, Brinley, Adey and Lily Kate Bartosch, Colby and Blake Pasteka, Braxton Garcia and Julian Dowdy and Olive Adkins.
