Ty Tatum, 38, of Woodway, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Gentry's Mill Cemetery near Hamilton. Visitation with Ty's family will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
Ty was born July 23, 1975 in Clovis, New Mexico to John Willie Tatum and Marian Meaders Tatum. He grew up in Monahans, TX. He attended Baylor University where he earned a BBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance. Other than his family, Baylor University was one of Ty’s great passions. He was a steadfast fan of all Baylor sports and stood by Baylor football at their best and worst. Ty and his wife, Patricia moved to Waco in 2001 at which time he started working at Genco Federal Credit Union. He worked his way up the ladder at Genco from Loan Officer to currently serving as the Vice President of Lending Services.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco and loved his church family. He served as a wonderful Sunday school leader. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Ty was preceded in death by his father, John Tatum.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughter, Eleanor; mother, Marian Tatum; sister, K’Lee Skaug and her husband, Jorgen; nephews, Henrik and Aksel Skaug; and many loving extended aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ty touched the lives of so many people and had a most generous heart. He would go to the ends of the earth to help anyone in need. He was very fun-loving, hard-working and always seen with a kind smile. His greatest achievement in life was being a wonderful husband and father.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ty’s memory at Genco Federal Credit Union, c/o Ty Tatum, 731 N. Valley Mills Dr., Waco, TX 76710.
