Johnny Murry went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday April 24, 2014, at the age of 64. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with Johnny's family will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon the 27th of April at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
He was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on the 13th of July 1949 to Harold D. Murry and Edris Gimlin Murry "Mimi".
He moved to Waco his sophomore year of high school and graduated in 1967 from Richfield High School. Four years later he graduated from Baylor University with a BA in History, but found his true calling after attending TSTC and graduating with a degree in Bio-Med.
Johnny went to work for Providence Hospital in 1979 where he met the love of his life, Tootie, whom he married September 26, 1982. Their son, Jonathan was born July 11, 1983.
He proudly worked for Providence for 35 years before retiring January 10, 2014. He chaired the annual Providence picnic for more than 25 years. He touched the lives of each and everyone that knew him. He was truly loved by all.
Johnny was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he followed in the footsteps of his father and was ordained as a deacon, along with his son Jonathan in the summer of 2013.
He was an avid golfer and loved camping and fishing which he looked forward to sharing with his Sunday school class for their annual summer fish fry. Johnny was most proud of his son, Sgt. Jonathan Murry, who is serving in the Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold D. Murry.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Tootie; his mother, Edris E. Murry; son, Jonathan and wife, Elisha Murry; grandson Ethan; a brother, Jeff and wife, Cynthia Murry; a sister, Janet Enriquez; sister in-law Mable Petersen of Pflugerville; Aunts, Uncles, one niece, four nephews and many friends including his best friend, Danny McLeod.
Pallbearers honored to serve are: Danny McLeod, Keith Mills, Brian Enriquez, Nicholas Enriquez, Justin Murry and Jared Murry.
Memorials in Johnny's memory may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church of Waco.
