John A. (Jack) Jones, 92, passed away June 22, 2012 at St. Catherines Nursing Home. He formerly resided in Amarillo, Texas for 40 years before moving to Waco. No visitation is scheduled. A private family graveside service is scheduled for Monday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Willard W. Jones and Mayme (Wilkie) Jones. He was a World War II veteran and was a part of the Normandy invasion, serving in the armored division. During his service he received a Purple Heart and Silver Star. Following his military service he enjoyed a 40 year career with DuPont Corp.
Jack was preceded in death by both of his parents; two sons, Jay A. Jones of Houston, Texas and Reid Jones of Amarillo, Texas; sister Alice Wagner of Arkansas and a daughter-in-law, Diane Davis of Amarillo, Texas.
Survivors include his wife Marie Ellen (Warren) Davis Jones of Waco, Texas, his brother William W. Jones and wife Phyllis of Dallas, Texas; 3 step-sons, Bob Davis and wife Erin of Waco, Texas; Bill Davis of Amarillo, Texas; Ben Davis and wife Debbie of Canyon, Texas; daughter-in-law Marie Jones of Amarillo, Texas; 23 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all his family.
