John Deville, 81, of Waco passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Father Cyril Ejaidu officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
John was born April 7, 1933 to Joseph and Lena (Tortorice) Deville in Ville Platte, Louisiana. John proudly served his country, giving more than twenty years of his life to both the US Army and US Air Force. His tours of military duty took him to many places such as Germany, the UK, Libya, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and several places throughout these United States where John touched so many people with his kindness, helpfulness and love.
Upon completion of his military career in 1972, John and wife Pam moved their family to Waco, Texas where they put down roots and allowed their four children to grow and flourish. John's family was his pride, joy and now legacy. John leaves behind a loving wife, four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will surely be missed.
John entered TSTI to study HVAC maintenance and proceeded to have long careers at Lochridge-Priest, Marathon Battery, and Olan Mills, retiring in 1996. John was a twenty-five year faithful member of the Waco Family YMCA where he developed many great and lasting friendships; they are like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ramona Fontenot; and first wife, Edna Ruth Vidrine Deville.
John is survived by his wife, Pamela; children, Vicky Mazanec and husband Ed, Kenneth Deville, Donald Deville and wife, Leaslie, and Iona Easterwood and husband, Don; sister, Helen Pardo and husband Terry; brother, Charles Deville; grandchildren, Eddie Mazanec IV and wife Jessica, Lindsey Mazanec, Dustin Deville and wife Caitlin, Gabrielle Deville, Seth Williams, Ryan Smith and wife Margaret, Morgan Smith, and Leah Easterwood; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Serena and March Julia Mazanec.
The Deville family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to all of the wonderful and dedicated staff at Providence Hospital, Providence Hospice, Texas Oncology, Waco Infectious Disease Associates, and a special heartfelt “thank you” to doctors Tim Martindale, John Bawduniak, and Thomas Harris for both their professionalism and thoughtful care of John these past months.
