John Morris Day, 71, of Waco, passed peacefully into his Savior's arms on Sunday, August 9, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.
Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas 76710.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday night, August 13.
Interment will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Restwood Memorial Park, 1036 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, Texas 77531.
John was born June 2, 1944 in Orange, Texas to Gene and Martha Day of Lake Jackson, Texas. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University, and was a State Farm Insurance agent in Waco for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with
his family, antiques, carpentry, golf, chili cook-offs and mission trips. John had many friends. He was kind, gentle, loving and generous. He was always willing and ready to help others.
John was preceded by his twin sister Martha Jean Hallmark; his father, Gene Day; and his mother, Martha Day.
He is survived by his sisters, JoAnn McDougal of Montgomery, Texas and Alice Smith of Houston, Texas; by his daughter Leann Day of Chicago, Illinois; by his sons, Barton Day of Cooper, Texas and Derek Day of Waco; by his three beloved grandchildren, and his numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the U.S. Prayer Center, in Houston, Texas to continue his desire to support missionary projects.
