Joella Jones was born on April 15, 1940 in Seymour, TX to Clyde and Bernice Blankenship. Joella graduated from Seymour High school in 1958. She met her true love, Sam Jones, in San Antonio, where they were married on June 1, 1973.
Joella is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Blankenship and mother, Bernice McKinney. She is survived by her husband, Sam Jones; daughter Melynda, her husband Howard and their children Timothy, Jeremy, Samantha, Robert and Levi; son Scott, his wife Debbie and their children Jared and Joshua; son Larry, his wife Bonnie and their children Morgan, Trenton and Cole; daughter Melissa, her husband Tim and their children Hailey, Taylor, Caden and Ryan; nine great grand children; brother Gwinn and sisters Louise, Loretha, Jeannie, Brenda and Linda.
Joella had a passion for interior design and a variety of crafts. She was often asked to help decorate her friends’ homes and to help with weddings of friends and family. Joella also loved the outdoors, and she and Sam enjoyed adventures through forty-eight states. Along the way they fished, hiked and explored the states’ rich histories. Much of their travel was made in an RV, along with their tribe of friends.
Joella was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, her strength, compassion and selflessness.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Lakeshore Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Drive in Waco, TX. In lieu of flowers, please honor Joella’s wishes and make a donation to Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville, TX.
