Joe W. Warren, passed away Friday June 25, 2010 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be Monday at 1:30PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Van Dyke officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Joe was born November 10, 1918 in Lorena, to James and Mattie Warren. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1938. He married Ruth Schaeper on September 20, 1941. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946, serving in the Philippines as a Military Policeman. After his discharge, he went to GI school and with his brother Layton opened Warren Brothers garage near Hewitt, Texas. He loved beekeeping and after retiring he became a full time beekeeper. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. Joe called on the Lord as his Savior on April 3, 2009 and became a member of Candlestick Baptist Church.
Joe is survived by his wife Ruth of 69 years; a daughter Carolyn Van Dyke and her husband Bobby of Brenham, Texas; a son Richard and his wife Tiffany of Lockhart, Texas; a brother James F. Warren; a sister Vera Lundy; Four grandsons Jeffrey, Joe, Jeremy and Joshua Van Dyke; Eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Four Step-grandchildren and twelve great step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Van Dyke, Joe Van Dyke, Jeremy Van Dyke, Norman Tindell, Steve Barho and Phil Staley.
Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Van Dyke.
