Joseph "Joe" Edward Walker, 84, of Lorena passed away in a local nursing home Saturday, August 29, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Lakewood Christian Church, 6509 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX 76710 with Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating.

Joe was born March 18, 1931 in Enloe, to John Robert Walker and Vera M. Huggins Walker. On December 21, 1950, he married his devoted wife, Marlene Foster. They were married for 64 years. They met at East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce.

Joe was employed by William Cameron Company on October 31, 1951 in Texarkana. In 1957, he was transferred to Mt. Pleasant to be in the center of his sales territory. The in 1959, he was transferred to Dallas as a salesman and later became the Branch Manager. In 1969, he was transferred to Waco as a product manager in the home office. In 1971, Joe was made Senior Vice President of Certain-Teed/Cameron Division and transferred to Certain-Teed home office in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for two years. In 1973 they moved back to Waco. He retired from the company in 1987 and opened a Video Company for commercial use. About 10 years later in 1997, he closed the company and called himself retired

Joe was very active in Lakewood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He had served as Chairman of the Church Board, Elder, Elder Emeritus, Deacon, and taught Sunday school for the Forum Class for many years. Joe was a member of the Lakewood Older Adults Fellowship and a member of Lakewood Men's Fellowship. He was a member of the downtown Rotary Club for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two nephews.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marlene of Lorena; son, Larry Walker of Lorena; grandson, Drew Walker and wife, Kayla, of Belton; granddaughter, Angel Walker of Crawford; great-granddaughter, Briella Walker; brother, John Walker and wife, Ruth, of Brenham; sister, Betty and husband, Harvey Shepherd, of Irving; and several nieces, nephews, and lots of friends.

The family would like to thank Royal Manor Medical Center for your love and Care. Joe loved all of the nurses, aides, therapists, and employees who worked there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakewood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Waco.
