Jimmie “Jimbo” Smith of Waco passed away peacefully Tuesday,November 12,2019 at Wesley Woods.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive, Waco Texas, Sunday November 24 at 3:00pm. A Visitation with the family will be at 2:00pm, an hour prior to the service.

Jimbo was born to William and Estelle Poteet in Aquilla, Tx on November 20, 1934. She went to school in the Aquilla and Penelope area.

During her career she worked at Farm Bureau in Waco for over 20 years. She then was a coach at the Mexia State School. Her history includes working in the permit agent in the Seismograph Industry. It was there she met Jim. They married on April 10, 1982 and together they owned and operated Jim’s Drive Inn in Jewett. Their next endeavor was Running Branch Campground and Marina at Lake Limestone. They sold the marina and Jimbo perused her real estate career. They later moved to Waco to be closer to medical care.

She is preceeded in death by her loving and devoted husband of over 30 years; her parents; brothers, Odell and Travis Poteet; sisters, Georgia Kruger, Helen Stepp, Ina Jean Poteet and Bobbie Beck.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Ginsel of Woodway, Sherry Youngblood of Troy, Kathy Goss and husband David of Lorena, Susan Lloyd and husband Tommy of Mexia; Jennifer Hayes and husband Bill of Mexia; Son Mike Smith of Mexia. Brother Billy Poteet and wife Virginia of Melissa; sister Jonnie Doty of Waxahachie, eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

Special Thanks to Wesley Woods staff and Blue Bonnet Hospice for their care and love for our mom.

In lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
